When Elijah Jones and Atlanta-based producer Ben Allen (Animal Collective, Gnarles Barkley) first teamed up to work on “The Constellation Project,” they never envisioned that the songs they were recording would ever be performed live (hence the backwards guitars and didgeridoos). But during the studio session, Jones conjured up the lyric “From darkness to night/We shine through the light/And stars will combine to form constellations,” essentially prophesying the way in which this band would eventually take shape, as a literal collection of stars cherry-picked from Atlanta’s ripe music scene.
