Jarett Fields and Lisa Erin Brown, UWM academic staff member and UWM student, respectively, have both declared themselves candidates for the 18th District seat in the Wisconsin State Assembly, and are collecting signatures to get on the ballot for the Democratic Primary in August.

The first lecture for the April Science Bag series, “Your Immune System: Up-Close and Personal” leaves an audience in laughter. Dr. Douglas Steeber and Dr. Heather Owen from the UWM Biology Department used toys and fun analogies to educate an audience of all ages on how the human immune system works and how allergies affect us. They encouraged audience participation through volunteering for demonstrations and opportunities to ask questions.

Various UWM faculty and staff reflect on the issue of plagiarism, recalling previous cases and sharing personal opinions of the current policy. Associate Vice Chancellor Jim Hill discusses a national survey conducted in April that will give data and plagiarism comparisons to other colleges and universities in the country of how students feel about the matter.

A UWM sophomore of the College of Letters and Science unexpectedly died on the morning of March 5, leaving students and faculty shocked. Connor Driscoll, 19, went to the Kotsche Center pool around 7:30 a.m. with his roommate Samuel Hemes. Driscoll was swimming underwater, came up for air, then appeared to sink. He was pronounced dead shortly after 8 a.m.
