By Jeremy Tiedt

Leanne Felsing led the way with her ninth triple-double as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee got back on track Tuesday night in a sweep against the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay; 30-27, 30-24 and 30-28.

The Panthers (15-2, 6-1 Horizon) had their 14-game winning streak snapped Saturday night against Cleveland State and responded nicely Tuesday with their ninth sweep this season and their 28th win over UW-GB in their last 30 meetings.

Simply the best

By Brett Winkler

Ever heard of Kitrick Taylor? How about Harry Sydney? Reggie Cobb? Charles Jordon? Remember these guys? If not, how about Antonio Freeman, Sterling Sharpe and Donald Driver? Ah, there you go.

Wondering why some of these guys are relevant? All seven of them, along with 36 others, are an important part of NFL history. They’ve all caught at least one of Brett Favre’s NFL-record 422 touchdowns…and counting.

2007 Brewer season in review

By John Raschig

The 2007 season for the Milwaukee Brewers was their best campaign in 15 years, as they posted their first winning season since 1992. While not enough to catapult them into the postseason, it was nonetheless filled with highlights, memorable moments and some moments Brewer fans would like to forget.

The young Milwaukee team saw the emergence of Prince Fielder as an MVP candidate, Corey Hart as a perennial 20-20 man and Ryan Braun as the best-hitting third baseman this side of Alex Rodriguez and Yovani Gallardo.

Pack it in

By Jimmy Lemke

All right, now you have no excuse.

Following a sparsely attended basketball season in 2006-07, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee athletic department has its hands full in trying to get you, the student, to start going to basketball games. Over the years, the marketing department has tried seemingly everything under the sun to get an apathetic student body to go to games.

Crosse-over sport

By Jimmy Lemke

On a warm Saturday evening in Milwaukee, the Menomonee Valley was as quiet as could be expected. The casino wasn’t packed, Canal Street was nearly empty and most of the noise was coming from I-94 half a mile away.

There wasn’t much in the way of action until about 4 p.m. Then the Valley was electric.

Coastal craze

By Curtis Claassen

Now that the playoffs are upon us, we take a look and break down the four divisional series. Seven of the eight playoff teams this year did not make it in 2006.

Only the New York Yankees return to postseason play; they took an early exit last year in the first round, losing to the eventual American League champion Detroit Tigers.

Romo proving last year was no fluke

By David Steidl

The National Football League season is already a quarter of the way through, and certain players have separated themselves from the rest.

As talk of the season MVP begins, one player has stood out from the pack. Tony Romo is proving doubters wrong after his infamous fumble of the field goal snap that ended Dallas’ last season.

The fantastic freshman

By Nathan Anthony

If you have been reading The Post regularly, then you will have noticed a great deal of editorial space dedicated to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women’s tennis team. Besides that the UWM Post strives to report all the sports news happening in your world, the women’s tennis team has been making it hard to not talk about them. First off, Milwaukee had two solid performances last week as two doubles tandems went to the finals at Ball State. Secondly, and perhaps most amazing, is that our top singles player with seven wins in Jenna Flescher, a freshman. Another shocker is that our No. 3 and No. 4 players are Sammi Schoen and Martina Schnapp, also freshmen, with five wins. As if that wasn’t enough, the Panthers’ No. 1 doubles tandem is the 4 win pair of Schoen and Schnapp. Clearly, these three ladies have earned a little recognition.

Turning back the clock

By Ken Ryan

Critics have blasted Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre over the past few years for refusing to retire, saying he was washed up or holding the organization hostage and that the Packers should part ways with him.

Where are those critics now?

Brewers out of it, football to early to tell, basketball too far away

By Mike Kennedy

Miller Park is empty, Lambeau Field is too far away and impossible to get tickets to and the college basketball season doesn’t kick off Midnight Madness, the official start of basketball season, for another week. Being a sports fan in Milwaukee is at its all-time low during this scrap of the year, which I call the sports season halftime.

Let’s start with the Brewers. I know it has been drilled into your skull, but the Brewers had a successful year despite not making it to the playoffs. If you take a look at the Brew Crew members that are returning, you should be ecstatic because those same Brewers who contributed for 231 home runs will be back, and back stronger than ever.

Panther women’s soccer unbeaten in last 25 games

By Mike McMillan

Futbol is in full swing this October… that is the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women’s soccer. The way the Panthers have been finding the back of the net lately, one would think the scores to be that of a MLB playoff game. Even Josh Beckett of the Boston Red Sox cannot get the run support that Panther attackers are giving goaltender Erin Kane right now. UWM opened conference play by making a statement against Butler University (1-1, 3-6-1 Horizon), taking a 5-1 victory. Then it was on to the University of Detroit-Mercy (1-01-, 3-6-2 Horizon) where they secured a 0-0 tie after two overtimes.
