Why let them live?
With all of the crime in the world today and all of the criminals behind bars, it is hard to believe that killers’ lives are worth preserving. There are adults raping and murdering babies, grown men teaching their nephews how to rape, kill, chop up and burn women so as to not get caught and women who kill their own children for attention. (This is a mental disorder, but still inexcusable.)
Perhaps it is just my thinking, but why are we worried about making the death penalty as painless as possible when most of the people who deserve to receive the death penalty inflicted so much pain on as many people as possible?

Cover-up indicates hypocrisy
One of my biggest pet peeves in the world of politics is when a politician is so hypocritical that it becomes almost comical when they get caught in one of their hypocrisies (if not for the seriousness of the situation). No really, shut up
Ms. Wiesend, I couldn't agree with you more (“Shut Your Yapper,” Sept. 25).
I, too, have felt the urge to do serious bodily harm to people who think it's OK to carry on a conversation with friends, text message people and/or answer their cell phone in class. Oddly enough, I had to deal with yapping girls (sitting right next to me, of course) in a criminal justice class I took last semester! I was dumbfounded by their blatant disrespect for the instructor, and overall immaturity. But I couldn't get up the nerve to complain to the professor — or to confront the girls.
