Club football awakens from hibernation

Nearly 9,200 people showed up for the spring football game at the University of Alabama, where new head coach Nick Saban has brought a new hope for the Crimson Tides meat-and-potatoes sport.
Seventy-one thousand Nittany Lions faithful packed Happy Valley for the scrimmage between the Blue and White teams of Penn State. Not one single fan attended the opening of spring football practices at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Platoon working out for Brew Crew
In 2006, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Geoff Jenkins hit for a .271 average and a .791 on-base plus slugging percentage, which are low numbers, especially for a veteran corner outfielder making $7 million per year.
This year, Jenkins owns a sparkling .358 batting average, leading to an amazing 1.007 OPS.

Playoff kickoff
The NBA playoffs are in full swing as Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat are looking to repeat as the champs.
Wade missed 30 games during the regular season after suffering a dislocated shoulder, forcing his teammates to pick up the slack. Shaq and company forged ahead without Wade and were able to earn the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Youre not alone on academic probation
The end of the semester is creeping up ever so slowly and finals are suddenly on the horizon, so we thought it would make sense to whip out the red pen and do a little grading.
Whether you noticed or not, the Milwaukee Bucks season came to a quiet, disappointing end not too long ago. As a result of the 28-54 year, they arent going to like what the see when they check PAWS or HOOVES or whatever it is that the Bucks check for their final grades.

When the Wright State Raiders came into town, they were expecting to finish their three-game series with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and leave on Saturday.
Once again, the weather made the Panthers take a rain check, and the first game of the set was postponed to Sunday.

Record breaking: No big thing
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee womens track and field team broke a sprint medley relay record Saturday at the Drake Relays.
Senior Timeka Walker, sophomore Shannon Buttchem and freshmen Laura Ring and Kelsey Conrad combined on a time of 4:03.10, which placed 17th in the event. The previous record was set at 4:03.91 at the same meet in 2005.
