Panthers split double-header at Miller Park after 1-0 complete game

The temperatures decreased outside of Miller Park, but the competition increased on Sunday when the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers faced conference rival Butler Bulldogs in a double-header.

The two teams split the series, with the Panthers (6-17 Overall, 5-3 Horizon League) losing the first game 5-2 to the Bulldogs (11-17, 4-7 Horizon), but winning the second with the help of Robert Michalkiewiczs shut-out 1-0 win to end the day.

Tennis does the splits

In the first of two road stops before taking the weekend off, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee womens tennis team defeated IPFW 4-3 on Thursday.

The Panthers pulled off the victory despite having to default one singles match and one doubles match. The defaults occurred after freshman Ashley Schoneman hurt her wrist during a doubles match. It was especially difficult since the team was up 2-0 in the match.

Assistant women“s soccer coach goes to Cali

After only a years service, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee womens soccer assistant coach Kristen St. Clair is moving on.

St. Clair has accepted the position as the head coach at California Baptist University in Riverside, Calif.

Wait-and-see good approach for the Packers

Nearly every Green Bay Packers fan out there has a strong opinion on their teams general manager, Ted Thompson. Whether its good or bad, there is no denying that he has been consistent in his approach to the job.

This offseason has been vintage Ted. While teams such as the New England Patriots load their roster with blockbuster free agent contracts, Thompson remains firm in not overpaying for other teams players.

Running season

They run in packs along the lake front. We have all seen them with their heads down. You can hear them breathing, and every time I see them, I feel pity and self-pity at the exact same time because I would hate to be doing that on a hot day, but envy their ability.

You would be wise to get out of their way if you see them coming, because there is no stopping them. Its getting warmer out and the swarms of college students that are out running miles every day are taking over the campus streets and Lincoln Memorial Drive.

The college basketball season is officially over, and for all intents and purposes, so is the NBA season in Milwaukee.

Broken records not enough

Some school records were broken and both the mens and womens track and field teams for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee finished in third place at the Big Blue Classic this past weekend in Charleston, Ill.

Junior Amber Curtis broke two of her own school records on Saturday to help lead the Panthers with 171 points and a third-place finish. Host Eastern Illinois took the top honors.
