The dispute over medical marijuana use

Last week, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson signed into law a bill that would allow critically ill patients in his state to receive controlled dosages of medicinal marijuana.

Though 11 other states already have similar laws on the books, Richardson is unique in signing the bill because he is a Democratic presidential contender; signing a controversial bill like this would be damaging in the eyes of most aspiring presidential candidates.

Say no to unnecessary surgeries

Body modification has always fascinated me, for the simple reason that it is a way for people to take control of their own bodies; in a way acting as their own creator.

Having had the misfortune to experience both the good and the bad sides of body modification (surgeries and tattoos), I can understand how people can run away with it.

No loitering at Mayfair

The decision Mayfair Mall made to require shoppers under the age of 18 to be accompanied with a parent or an adult 21 or older after 2 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays not only takes the rights away from those younger shoppers who can legally drive, but also takes away potential commerce from the shops inside.

It is understandable that the mall is concerned about their security, but there are other ways to make the mall more secure without discriminating against teenagers by restricting their admittance. The answer is beefing up the security in the mall.

Protect our freedoms

Fear is a powerful tool indeed. It is not nearly as powerful, though, as the power of the government to set limitations on freedom. In this country we are bombarded day-to-day with stories and information that could scare a person to death.
