Women’s soccer wins regular season title outright

Coach notches 100th win in 1-0 victory

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers women’s soccer team clinched the Horizon League regular season title outright Friday with a 1-0 win over the Loyola Lady Ramblers.

Coach Michael Moynihan got his 100th career win in the game, accomplishing the feat on his first try.

Senior puts Loyola away with 4 goals

In a stunning flurry of goals Sunday afternoon, senior Neil Dombrowski led the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers to a 4-1 victory over the Loyola Ramblers.

The team bounced back from a double-overtime loss to the Michigan Wolverines and destroyed the Ramblers, who fell to 6-7-2 on the year, 3-2 in the Horizon League.

Bad drop, bad break

Last week, 16-year-old Michelle Wie teed up at the Samsung World Championship in Palm Desert, Calif., for the first time as a professional.

Her debut was a success until Sunday night when the tournament was in the books and Annika Sorenstam had collected her ninth trophy this year.

Wolverines end Panthers’ impressive scoreless streaks

After going on a five-game win streak, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men’s soccer team was defeated 2-1 in double overtime by the Michigan Wolverines Thursday.

UWM (8-3-4) could not prevent the Wolverines (7-6-1) from scoring in the 109th minute to send the Panthers home with a loss.

Felsing’s accomplishments go beyond record book

After Leanne Felsing’s senior year in high school, she was named a first-team All-State performer at Wisconsin Lutheran High School. As one of the best players in the state, she decided to stay close to home and picked the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Lucky for UWM, she has been phenomenal in her first two seasons with the team.

Improved defense, but Patriots remain for Colts

NFL: So who is the best team in the NFL? Well, if you look at the records, the Indianapolis Colts (7-0) have the best mark. Quarterback Peyton Manning has had a quiet year numbers-wise, but the Colts’ improved defense is what’s getting the attention of the league.

Of course, they have to beat the New England Patriots on Nov. 6, something they have not done when the lights shine the brightest.

Northwestern defeats women swimmers; divers take first

The Northwestern Wildcats turned out to be a persistent nemesis for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women’s swimming and diving team, as they took first place Sunday in the Northwestern Relays after defeating the swim team in Friday’s meet, 158-81.

The defeat does not make the weekend unsuccessful for UWM’s squads, though. There were several first- and second-place finishes by swimmers in Friday’s meet, and the diving team took first overall in the UIC Diving Invitational on Sunday.
