FAN-tastic Friday draws 1,500 for basketball kick-off
Homecoming event a chance to meet team

Friday was an opportunity for University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee basketball fans to be introduced to their 2005-2006 men’s and women’s teams.
The event, FAN-tastic Friday, which was a part of PantherFest activities and the unofficial kick-off for the basketball season, was held at the U.S. Cellular Arena and drew nearly 1,500 people.

All for naughts
The game between the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers and the University of Illinois-Chicago Flames ended in a scoreless tie after a total of 45 shots on goal, including 25 by UWM.
The tie brings UWM’s record to 7-2-4 overall and 3-1-1 in Horizon League play. UIC is now 6-3-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the Horizon League.

Swimming and diving teams lose to Big Ten foes
Both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee were defeated Thursday at the Madison Invitational.
The Invitational pitted UWM against Big Ten opponents Wisconsin and Iowa. The men fell 201-42 to Wisconsin and 163-78 to Iowa. The women lost 184-59 to Wisconsin and 172-71 to Iowa.

Panther beat Marquette in Brew City Classic
To say this was just another football game for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panther football club and Marquette University’s football club would be a lie.
In a highly anticipated showdown Saturday, bragging rights for the city of Milwaukee were on the line as both teams hungered for a victory in this year’s annual Brew City Classic.

Men’s and women’s cross country teams struggle
After 14 days off, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men’s and women’s cross country teams seemed rusty as they finished 27th and 34th, respectively, at the NCAA Pre-Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind.
Leading the way for the men was senior Josh Nygren, who finished the course with a time of 24:56 for a 76th-place finish.
