Fresh fish on Farwell

Ichiban greets its diners with a very intimate and Zen-like dining room that includes a sushi bar as well as regular tables. The dining room is a lot smaller than I expected, but that just gives a more intimate and relaxing feel to the restaurant.

This Japanese restaurant has much more than just an extensive sushi menu. There are many different entrees, mainly seafood-based, as well as a large variety of noodle dishes.

Book sale oddities

With the recent and much-lamented closing of Voss Books on Water Street and the Constant Reader Bookshop Ltd. on Irving Place last year, Milwaukeeans in search of used books are having a more difficult time.

The recent Golda Meir Library Used Book Sale, a fund-raiser with all proceeds benefiting the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee library, served as a sound reminder that when hunting for bargain books, one often has to sift through a lot of junk in order to unearth the hidden gems.

Taking advantage

There are many times in a person’s life when they are vulnerable, sad and susceptible to influence by others. These are the times that manipulative people wait for.

Some people prey on the depressed by taking their money, talking them into a time-share or getting them into bed. My question is: how long does one have to wait before they hit on someone who is freshly heartbroken so as not to seem like they are taking advantage of a bad situation?
