The Olympic Games and the college student

The competitions occur once every four years. Yet the results are online before the intended audience can watch the contest.

There is little entertainment value in watching a race when the winner is known. Olympic overage is extensive between NBC and the USA Network, giving ample space to show live coverage.

Wisconsin residents unhappy with UW System

Large donations, new advertising slogans and the chancellor traveling to China have all been a part of a concentrated effort to increase the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s visibility and create a more positive image of our university.

While I applaud these efforts, a recent study has shown that a large amount of Wisconsin residents are really unhappy with the UW System.

Same-sex marriage ban bigoted

This November, we once again are asked to perform our civic duty and make that trip back to the polls. That’s right, it’s election time!

Several elections will be taking place, including races for the governorship and attorney general, as well as national races for House seats that are up for re-election every two years and a Senate seat that is up for grabs every six years.

No port left behind

American ports have always been a great vulnerability, especially since only about 7 percent of the cargo that is transferred through this country’s seaports is checked by security.

This is why many people, Democrats and Republicans alike, are baffled by President Bush’s recent decision to allow Dubai Ports World to control half a dozen major seaports in the U.S. Subsequently, the issue has sparked much controversy.
