The Grind opens Sandburg location

Dorm dwellers have convenient caffeine fix

The Grind coffee shop opened its third on-campus location Oct. 17, offering beverages and bakery on the first floor of Sandburg Hall.

The new establishment kicked off with a three-day trial period featuring free drinks and bakery samples to introduce dorm residents to the Grind’s products.

Vendor cancels flu shot clinics

Because of a supply shortage, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee flu shot clinics scheduled for Nov. 7 and 8 were cancelled.

Maxim Health Systems, the vendor that has a contract with UWM, canceled its clinics with the campus and other community clinics.

System allows Web storage for students, faculty

Students, faculty and staff at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee now have a way to store files on the Web and access them anywhere on or off campus.

The campus file storage system is called PantherFile. With PantherFile, students have 250 megabytes of storage available and faculty and staff have one gigabyte. Students employed by the university also have one gigabyte of storage.

Union wins 9 of 12 conference awards

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Union Marketing Department won nine out of a possible 12 awards at a regional union conference on Nov. 6.

14 new kiosks up around campus

Fourteen new computer kiosk stations have been installed around the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus since the Sept. 13 Union kiosk installation, bringing the total number of kiosks to 30.

Those kiosks include four in the south hall of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences near Room E145, two in the Physics Building near the vending machines, two in Cunningham Hall near the lounge and six in the Department of Enrollment Services in Bolton Hall.

Program allows students to voice concerns to Santiago

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Broadcast Club taped its third “Ask the Chancellor” program Friday during which Chancellor Carlos Santiago addressed student concerns.

The questions were thought up by the students in attendance and ranged from UPass fees, residential parking, the progress of the Kenilworth Building, funding cuts, the recent trip to China by UWM administrators and diversity progress.
