Theft
A bicycle was stolen from the bike rack by the South Tower of Sandburg Residence Hall the afternoon of Aug. 28. The bike, belonging to a female student, has an estimated value of $70.

Assault
An unidentified man was assaulted by 15 other males shortly at 12:59 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3. The victim left a house party near the corner of North Oakland Avenue and East Hampshire Avenue, where he was pursued by five men from the party. Shortly after that, 10 more males came from around Domino’s Pizza and joined in. When officers arrived, the victim was being kicked and punched on the ground. Campus authorities took one of the attackers into custody, and the man was taken away in an ambulance. The man says he did nothing to provoke the attack. The case was turned over to the Milwaukee Police Department.

A confrontation between a man and woman at the corner of East Hartford Avenue and North Shepard Avenue resulted in the male striking the female at 11:57 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 8. The Milwaukee Police Department was called in.

Drugs and alcohol
An 18-year-old male student and a 19-year-old man who is not a student were issued citations at 2:46 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23. Campus authorities spotted the two on the 3400 block of N. Maryland Avenue drinking. The non-student was allegedly smoking from a marijuana pipe while the student was seen urinating on the fence surrounding Downer Woods. The student was cited on allegations of underage drinking and given a warning for public urination, while the non-student received citations on allegations of underage drinking and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sept. 28 to Oct. 6

An 18-year-old male student was cited by campus authorities on allegations of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 10:44 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28. The student’s backpack was searched at the security checkpoint in the commons area of Sandburg Residence Hall, where 0.7 grams of marijuana and a glass pipe were discovered.

Five students and one non-student were issued citations on allegations of underage drinking at 8:47 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6 at a house on the 2900 block of N. Farwell Ave.

Drugs and alcohol
Two 18-year-old male students were cited on allegations of underage possession of alcohol at 9:25 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13. The men were allegedly found in the commons area in Sandburg Hall with backpacks containing a bottle of vodka, a bottle of tequila and a bottle of Jagermeister, and received citations.

An 18-year-old male who is not a student was allegedly caught walking past the University Police station drinking from a can of beer at 11:18 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11. The man was issued a warning and released.

Drugs and alcohol
An 18-year-old male who is not a student was cited on allegations of underage possession of alcohol at 1:31 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25. The man was spotted by campus police walking eastbound on the 2300 block of E. Kenwood Blvd. with a bottle of Admiral Nelson’s Raspberry Rum.

A male student was cited for drug paraphernalia at 2:31 p.m. Sept. 9 after university police received a report of smoke coming out of a window on the 12th floor of Sandburg Hall’s West Tower. When police arrived at the suite, they said it smelled like a combination of burnt popcorn and marijuana. They knocked on the first door and a man with blood shot eyes and shaky legs opened the door, but he was not found to have any drug substances in his room. The young man then pointed the police to another room in the suite. After police knocked on that door, the resident said they did not have any drug paraphernalia because the police had been there last week to confiscate it. The police performed a search of the room and confirmed there were no drugs. They then went the third room in the suite where the resident admitted having pipe. He then recovered a multi-color pipe, with a brown type substance still in the bowl, from his mini fridge. The man was given a $315 citation for drug paraphernalia.

On Nov. 9, a student outside the U.S. Cellular Arena was given a verbal warning after showing signs of intoxication after the basketball game.
On Nov. 10, a laptop was stolen from Chapman Hall between the hours of 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. The estimated price of the laptop was around $1,000.

Armed Robbery
On Monday, Nov. 26, 2007 at about 9:25 p.m., a woman was robbed on the 2600 block of Oakland Avenue. The two suspects in this case were reported to be juveniles and they obtained cash from the victim after one of them displayed a handgun. The suspects fled the scene but were subsequently arrested by the Milwaukee Police Department. One of the suspects was allegedly involved in two additional robberies in the City of Milwaukee earlier in the evening.

Indecent exposure
A University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee student reported that on Dec. 3 at about 9 a.m., while she was walking on Newberry Boulevard and Maryland Avenue, a male exposed himself to her. She described the suspect as a white male in his 20s and was sitting in a blue pickup truck with an open bed and a snowplow on the front.
She reported the incident to the Milwaukee Police Department, who subsequently arrested a possible suspect and are continuing their investigation.

Theft
On Jan. 14 at about 10:30 p.m., a pair of $900 glasses were stolen from a table in the Golda Meir Library. The glasses were taken from the second floor of the West Wing and are still missing.

A woman’s sapphire and diamond white metal ring was reported stolen on Jan. 22 from the restroom near the Terrace. The crime occurred between 1:30 and 1:50 p.m. The ring was valued at $150.
A Giant Hybrid bicycle was reported stolen from the bike racks outside of the Klotsche Center Jan. 22 between 5 and 7 p.m. The $500 bike, which included an odometer and rear-view mirror, was unlocked.
Police Blotter - 2/11/08
A wallet containing $800 cash was stolen from a man’s sweatshirt while he played basketball at the Klotsche Center on Jan. 31. The man said he put the sweatshirt on the side of the court at around 6:00 p.m. and realized it was gone at around 8:00 p.m.
A purse was stolen from underneath a table in the Union at around 4:00 p.m. Feb. 5. The woman said she left her table and realized a few minutes later that she didn’t have her purse and when she returned it was gone. Inside the purse was a DV recorder and a WISN electronic key card, together valued at $150.

A wallet was taken from the Plankinton Building downtown on Feb. 15. Wallet and contents were valued at $35.
A Pepsi delivery hand cart was stolen from the Physics/Engineering Mathematical Building Feb. 15. It was left unattended by the delivery truck. Cart valued at $300.
Police Reports - 3/3/08
Three laptop computers totaling $4393 were reported missing Feb.25 from Mitchell hall. The computers were left in a room and were to be used by art students and teachers. The room was locked and there was no sign of forced entry. The computers were thought to have been stolen sometime between Feb. 23 and Feb.25.
A backpack and its contents valued at $780 were stolen from the Union bookstore Feb. 27 around 5:27 p.m. The victim said he went into the bookstore at 5:20 p.m. and left his backpack in-between the carpet and the door, and when he went returned the backpack was gone. Inside the backpack were a laptop, 3 books and a wireless mouse. Police said the store’s surveillance tape shows a man walking next to the backpack, stopping, and then taking it.
Police Report - 3/10/08
A one foot by one foot black safe was reported stolen from a student’s room on the 16th floor of the East tower of Sandburg hall March 2, at 5:20 p.m. Inside the safe was a wallet containing $200 cash, ID and credit cards, a total value of $270. Police determined there was no sign of forced entry and the victim couldn’t remember if they had locked their door or not, but had noticed that keys to the safe were also missing.
A custodial supervisor reported March 5 that eight rolls of toilet paper had been stolen from men’s and women’s bathrooms in Mitchell Hall. On March 3, five rolls were noticed missing, with 3 more gone missing the following day. The tissue dispensers were not damaged in the process, and the total value of the toilet paper stolen was $20.
Blotter - 3/24/07
An enraged and emotional 19-year-old UWM basketball fan was arrested for assaulting a police officer at the Gasthaus last Thursday. The male fan, who was described as about six feet, six inches tall, starting weeping openly after the UWM men’s basketball team was eliminated in the Horizon League Tournament. He was asked to leave and refused, prompting the UWM police to report. After having what was described as “the crazy eye” the student was swiftly tazed and hit approximately 324 times with a nightstick. He is in critical but stable condition at Columbia.
There were three separate purse robberies last week from the women’s locker room at the Klotsche Center, with losses amounting to over $300. So I don’t know, maybe put a lock on your stuff people?
Blotter - 3/31/08
A laptop was stolen from the Union Terrace around 7:45 p.m. on March 13. The owner of the laptop turned away from the table it was located on and the computer was stolen during that time. Victim reported a suspicious person watching her. The red Mac was valued at $1200.
A wallet was found and brought to the Campus Police Department on March 15th. Upon searching the contents, officers found a fake Wisconsin ID, which the owner admitted was used to buy alcohol and enter bars. She was issued a $504 citation.
Police Blotter - 4/7/08
A suspicious male was reported at the UWM Union March 28. Police responded, and subsequently found a vagrant having trouble keeping his pants up.
On March 29 a wallet was recovered after being reported stolen. The $20 which it contained was missing.
Blotter - 4/14/08
A male student was cited for underage drinking at 2:15 a.m. April 11, on the 3200 block of Maryland.
A female student was cited for possession of marijuana April 11 when police were dispatched to the 25th floor of the North Tower of Sandburg Halls. After Sandburg security noticed a suspicious odor coming from one of the rooms, police were notified and knocked on the student’s door. The female responded and police noticed the smell of marijuana and an open window despite it being 32 degrees outside.

UWM and Milwaukee Police issued 27 underage drinking citations after investigating a house party on the 2900 block of Maryland, April 12, at 12:09 p.m. The majority of the citations were issued to UWM students who ranged in age from 18-20.
An altercation between two male students in the Riverview Dorms on April 13 resulted in warnings being issued to the two involved. The pushing match began over a misunderstanding involving an I Pod, where one student fell and hit his head. The two were said to be slightly intoxicated and neither pressed charges after it was discovered the I Pod was in the possession of one the male’s girlfriends.
Blotter - 5/5/08
On Friday, April 25 the Union Client Services reported a possible retail theft from the food court area. Theft totaled $3.50. The female suspect had already left the building prior to the call to the police, and was thought to have gone into a nearby alley. The previous day the same female walked away from the food court area with two square banana cakes ($1 each) and a Fugi bottled water without paying. Police were not called at that time.
On Sunday April 27 a strong armed robbery occurred on the 2900 block of North Oakland Ave. around 9:45 p.m. A Safe Walker was waved down by the female victim who stated that she had been struck by a rock by an unknown male suspect. The suspect took her purse and fled south on Oakland. The case was turned over to the Milwaukee Police Department and a campus-wide e-mail was issued.
