Pack it up

By Sean Quast

I’m ready to pack my bag and get the fudge out of Dodge — err, wait — Milwaukee. This city needs a condemned sticker placed across it.

If Milwaukee needed a new slogan for itself, it could be “Milwaukee: the New Detroit.” I think the city’s reign as worst city in America is finally being realized by the rest of the nation. We’re gaining top spots on lists that no city really wants to be known as No. 1 for.

Take ‘race’ off of the application

By Devon Wiesend

In the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s new proposed policy, which is already being followed, UWM outlines its version of “affirmative action.”

The policy states that UWM will no longer take into account only ACT scores and GPAs, but will look at many different areas in order to determine the applicant’s worthiness of being a student. I have a slight problem with this, as ethnicity is taken into regard.

Why let them live?

By Devon Wiesend

With all of the crime in the world today and all of the criminals behind bars, it is hard to believe that killers’ lives are worth preserving. There are adults raping and murdering babies, grown men teaching their nephews how to rape, kill, chop up and burn women so as to not get caught and women who kill their own children for attention. (This is a mental disorder, but still inexcusable.)

Perhaps it is just my thinking, but why are we worried about making the death penalty as painless as possible when most of the people who deserve to receive the death penalty inflicted so much pain on as many people as possible?

A fence won’t solve our problems

By Jared Simons

One of the proposals to keep illegal immigrants out is a very big wall. The very big wall will stretch from the Pacific Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico, at a minimum cost of $8 million.

The positive aspects of this wall will be putting to use the surplus of portable airplane tarmac to build the wall and the creation of numerous temporary migratory jobs (provided they aren’t given to illegal immigrants). The wall will also stand as a symbol that America means business when it comes to immigration.

Stay home and avoid traffic

By Post Staff

There are many holidays throughout the year in which we are expected to visit family members. Quite a few people dread these days more than going to the dentist.

Why would anyone not want to see his/her family whenever s/he has the opportunity, you ask?

Put that down and learn

By Devon Wiesend

Milwaukee Public Schools’ Superintendent William Andrekopoulos recently told MPS principals to ban all cell phones in schools.

The decision was made after several incidences of violence with “backup” called in via cell phone. If a student is seen with a cell phone, it could be confiscated. If a student uses a phone to in any way harm others (i.e. call someone for reinforcement in a fight, take locker room pictures, etc.) the student could be expelled.
