Sexy apps should stay

Any device is only as good as the applications it runs. While the iPhone was certainly an interesting device, it wasn’t the ubiquitous game changer it is today until the introduction of the app store a year later.
Now, with the touch of a finger, users could download personal finance tools, news readers, and (of course) [...]

High-speed access is key to Internet’s growth

Harvard professor Lawrence Lessig has argued that one of the Internet’s defining strengths is its plasticity. Unlike radio, television, and print, which are relatively static media, the Internet is a constantly evolving entity. Think back to the days of America Online. Students should consider eBook readers

There was a time not too long ago when most serious photographers would’ve looked down their noses at a digital camera. Even today, vinyl record enthusiasts tout the format’s superior sound over CDs or MP3s. Although there are hangers-on to the old analog formats, most media has largely made the transition to the digital age. Books, however, have struggled to make the jump into the 21st century.

There was a time when the average public was leery of shopping online. Who knew what could happen, sending credit card information off into the ether of the Internet? Did anyone really know to whom they were giving such valuable information?
As the Internet has matured, a core group of trustworthy companies have risen to [...]
