“I don’t think it’s too late to bring back America’s standing in the world” –actor Adam Brody
Hollywood actor Adam Brody and Victoria’s Secret model Joy Bryant visited the UW-Milwaukee campus on Sept. 30 to voice their support for Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama.
Deputy Regional Field Director for Milwaukee County Corrine Rosen and Brad Long, Co-Chair of UWM Students for Barack Obama, introduced the prominent guests.
Adam Brody, geek chic star of the hit television series “The O.C.” began by asking the crowd, mostly female, if they were registered to vote, which foreshadowed the main point of the overall presentation. Brody expressed his want for change and that the 2008 presidential election, held Nov. 4, is the “biggest crossroad” for our generation.
“They say that young people can make the difference. And that’s true, but I think in this election specifically, its youthful ideas are going to have to overcome last year’s ideas,” said Brody.
Joy Bryant followed Brody and talked about the feelings she had as she shook Barack Obama’s hand back in 2004 while he was campaigning for senate in New York.
“I felt like a groupie. I just met the future President of the United States. And if this guy ever runs for President, I’m going to do whatever I can to get him elected. And he did, and he is, and that’s why I’m here today,” said Bryant.
Bryant then implored the crowd to get involved and not only register to vote, but also encourage others to register for this election.
“Get the word out. The power’s in your hands,” Bryant said. “And if we sit back and do nothing then we can’t talk about anything, we can’t complain.”
Once she finished, the focus was back to Rosen, who thoroughly explained how important it is to register to vote and recruit others to do the same.
She gave the crowd important information, including things like polling locations, most of which can be found on the voting website, www.voteforchange.com. The presentation ended with pictures and autographs for the crowd with Brody and Bryant.
Speaking to The Post after the event, Brody couldn’t explain what Obama did to gain his full support. Instead, he explained how it’s not Obama himself, but more of his beliefs and the ideas he would bring to the presidency.
“Let’s elect the smart man this time,” said Brody. “I think we should elect the person that we would want operating on our kids.”
Brody is very confident in Obama’s intelligence and ideas. He personally believes that those ideas would have a great affect on not only America, but the world as well.
“We’ve got two choices – one I see as a way forward, and one I see as going back in time,” he said. “And I don’t think it’s too late to bring back America’s standing in the world.”

You mean the Obama campaign brings in celebrities to sway the minds of cliche college kids? WOW what a surprise!
It sounds a lot like the Obama New Black Panthers or even the Obama kids singing praise of their messiah!
LOL what a joke!

Does anyone really care what celebrities think? Maybe we should ask the brainless Paris Hilton who she will vote for while we're at it too. Celebrities should just smile, and wave, no one cares what you think, including, yes, the Oprah.
Also I think if you comment on something you should attach your name to it. If you feel someway, don't be afraid to admit it's you.
