On Thursday, September 11, Conservative Union members placed 2,998 American flags in Spaights Plaza, 1 flag for each victim lost in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

"We think it's important for students to remember what happened on 9/11," said Tyler Kristopeit, President of the Conservative Union

The memorial was part of a nationwide effort called the 9/11 Never Forget Project, sponsored by the Young America's Foundation.
