Working from home
Life and work within the dorms

The Student Housing Employment Web site does contain a plethora of listings for jobs, but make sure to go online and fill out an application quickly. Positions are not guaranteed, and new jobs are frequently posted.
If you’re worried about rushing from class to class, and would prefer not to also be traveling through the city to get to work, you are not alone. And thankfully there are still many job openings right in your own home—Sandburg and RiverView Halls.
The next time you grab something to eat or ask the front desk a question, consider yourself on the other side of that desk for a moment.
Openings are available all throughout Sandburg’s food facilities, the cafeteria, Palm Gardens and the Emporium, as well as specific positions that specialize in certain fields.
RiverView may be new, but its student employment positions are bountiful. Security, cafeteria and convenience store applications are widely available, and applicants are accepted readily.
Check the front desk for more information, or even ask if there are open positions on the main desk staff. All applications and open job positions for both Sandburg and RiverView are located and listed on the Student Housing Employment Web site.
Most campus jobs will understand the student's school schedule, so flexibility is a plus. Although jobs may allow negotiation of hours, make sure to fill out an availability grid along with the application. While filling out applications, be aware of any deadlines, forms, resumes or other specific attachments the positions may request.
Also, make sure to read the job position requirements and expectations very carefully before applying. Tips on creating resumes or conducting interviews can be found through the Career Development Center (CDC).
The CDC offers an express lane for help, hosts jobs fairs and has several helpful links on their site. More information and office hours can be found on their site or by calling the office.

Don’t wait too long. Jump at the chance to ‘work from home’ if you’re interested in a convenient and flexible employment opportunity.
