Bucks season not over yet
By Steve Manske
When Redd starts playing and Bogut starts playing like the player he is capable of being look for the Bucks to get better and be around that 500-mark for the season.
The Milwaukee Bucks have shown improvement, but still have a lot of work to do in order to make the playoffs.
The Bucks have been highly competitive in every game since opening day, when they lost to the Chicago Bulls by 13 points. The early-season bright spot that has shined the brightest is rookie Luc Richard Mbah a Moute.
Mbah a Moute is averaging 27 minutes a game off the bench and more than 9 ppg and 6 rpg. Mbah a Moute has also been a defensive presence the Bucks have been so desperately in need of over the last couple of seasons.
Mbah a Moute has contained stars such as Caron Butler of the Washington Wizards in a game on Nov. 5 at the Bradley Center in which the Bucks came from behind to win. Luke Ridnour and Ramon Sessions have combined for 12 apg in a category the Bucks had struggled in with former Bucks guard Mo Williams who rarely passed a shot.
Now for a couple of players that are hurting the Bucks in the early part of the season look no further than Michael “I get paid to sit out all the time,” Redd. When Redd rolled his ankle in the first week against the New York Knicks it was suppose to be a day to day injury. Instead it has turned into a couple of weeks.
When Redd decides to finally toughen up and play some basketball the Bucks will start winning the close games of late that they could have won if he would be out there helping the team.
For the biggest disappointment so far on the Bucks who just landed a big contract look no further than “Soft as Charmin” Andrew Bogut. The big man has played every game, but looking at his stats you wouldn’t even think he is out there helping the team. Bogut has averaged only 10 ppg which is 4 ppg less than last season. The main reason is Bogut is shooting only 41percent from the free throw line. With a percentage that low he is making Shaquille O’Neal look like an outstanding free throw shooter.
When Redd starts playing and Bogut starts playing like the player he is capable of being look for the Bucks to get better and be around that 500-mark for the season. The Bucks have got some quality contributions from the young players up to this point and once the veterans start playing like they should this team should start to gel and play the type of ball coach Scott Skiles is looking for.
Bucks fans, there’s no need to panic because it’s extremely early in the season and they have played some very tough teams so far. Don’t forget how they played the Boston Celtics twice, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Phoenix Suns. Sit back and enjoy the potential the Bucks have to grow, and maybe in a month or two we will be watching a quality basketball team.
