Naked man arrested on Oakland Avenue
A naked man was arrested Oct. 25 near Oakland Trattoria while walking south on Oakland Avenue. Officers apprehended the man near the corner of Newberry Boulevard and Oakland Avenue around 1:30 p.m., not far from Riverside University High School. Sources close to the Post report that the wind and cold were unflattering to the man.

UW Regents reviewing UWM personnel
The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents is holding a special committee meeting Oct. 31 in Madison to review a personnel decision at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. However, since the meeting deals with personnel, the board will not release the details of who or what the meeting is about.

UWM Celebrates United Nations Day
In commemoration of United Nations formation 62 years ago, the United Nations Student Alliance set up tables in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Union Oct. 24 to teach students about the global organization.

The student alliance is working specifically with educating students about the eight UN Millennium Development Goals and included cooperation with the Hunger Task Force and another organization working on ending genocide in Darfur. Goals include

  1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
  2. Achieve universal primary education
  3. Promote gender equality and empower woman
  4. Reduce child mortality
  5. Improve maternal health
  6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases
  7. Ensure environmental sustainability
  8. Develop a global partnership for development

Campus Power Outage
About half the campus was out of power Oct.25 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., according to Brian Manthey of WE Energies. According to UWM Police, campus buildings without electrical power include: Curtin Hall, Garland Hall, Golda Meir Library (east wing), Holton Hall, Johnston Hall, Merrill Hall, Pearse Hall and the Sandburg Residence Halls (east tower and commons).
