A 24-year-old male UWM student attempted to steal a book at 8:50 a.m. Oct.18 from the Golda Meir Library. When he walked through the security detector, however, it went off and he was stopped. Library employees then went through his backpack and found the book’s cover ripped off and barcodes removed.

An amplifier valued at $229 was reported stolen Oct.18 from the Union Theater. It was last seen four days earlier on Oct.14. University police are still looking for suspects.

A vehicle hit an 18-year-old UWM student 4:18 p.m. Oct.18 as she attempted to cross Maryland Avenue in front of the Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business. The student experienced pain on her right thigh. Milwaukee Fire Department and Milwaukee Police Department arrived at the scene and took over the case.

Police were dispatched at 11:34 p.m. Oct.18 to assist an intoxicated female student on the third floor of Sandburg Residence Hall’s North Tower. Sandburg staff saw two of her friends helping her walk, and sent police to check it out. The 18-year-old woman admitted to drinking four or five shots of blueberry liquor, but police released her into her friends’ care with a warning.

An 18-year-old male UWM student was cited for underage drinking and having a fake ID Oct.19 at 12:07 a.m. The man was intoxicated in Sandburg Commons and was swearing to staff. When police arrived, he continued to swear and resisted getting handcuffed. Once he got to the police station police searched him and found a false drivers license and UWM ID. At 3:30 a.m., almost three hours after he was arrested, his blood alcohol content was .148. Finally at 3:50 a.m. he was released from the university’s holding cell.

At 2:49 a.m. Oct 19, police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Summit Avenue to deal with a neighborhood disturbance. When police arrived the man fled north towards Kenwood Boulevard. The resident said the man was ringing the door bell for ten minutes and yelling a woman’s name. He also broke two small windows, a glass table on the porch and a mailbox. The case was turned over to Milwaukee Police Department.

A bicyclist was sent to Columbia Saint Mary’s with minor injuries 10:05 a.m. Oct.19 after colliding with a vehicle. The biker, who was going west on Kenwood Boulevard, swerved to miss a vehicle coming out of the EMS parking lot and hit another car’s rear. After colliding, he flew off his bike, landed on the car’s rear window and completely shattered it.

University police saw a man get pushed off his skateboard by individuals in a car at 11:30 p.m. Oct. 19 on the corner of Newberry Boulevard and Oakland Avenue. The car drove up along side the skateboarder and another man reached out of the car to push the man off his skateboard. The skateboarder then started running after the car yelling “F—K you.” When police officers stopped the car, the two people in the car said they were friends with the man and were just joking around. The skateboarder was not around to verify that, but police could not press charges without the victim.

A 19-year-old UWM student was transported to Columbia Saint Mary’s after he was found lying unconscious, with a friend nearby, on the 2200 block of Linwood Avenue at 1:46 a.m. Oct.20. Police initially tried to wake him by yelling and touching his arm, but he did not respond to that or when an ammonia packet was waved in front of his face.

A Sony laptop and purple fleece blanket were reported stolen Oct.20 from a 16th floor dorm room in Sandburg Residence Hall’s North Tower, but the computer turned up later that day on the 22nd floor. The female resident said she was out of her room from midnight to 3 a.m. when it was taken and does not know how it could have gotten to the 22nd floor.

An 18-year-old male UWM student was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia Oct.21 at 1:52 a.m. Sandburg staff reported a suspicious smell coming from 15th floor of Sandburg Residence Hall’s South Tower and went to check it out. There they found a pipe and traces of a greenish brown substance in a can and a zipped baggy.

A bicyclist was hit by a car 9:09 p.m. Oct.23 near the corner of Kenwood Boulevard and Downer Avenue. The biker did not have any injuries and Milwaukee Police Department was sent to the scene to investigate.

Three juveniles were warned about skateboarding on campus 4:26 p.m. Oct.23. Two of the three received their second warning, and all three had letters sent home. Police give out actual citations after skateboarders are caught three times.

A 24-year-old UWM student was arrested for drinking and driving 1:41 a.m. Oct.24. Police saw the man driving without his headlights on outside Kenilworth Square. He then accelerated to a high speed East on North Avenue and failed to stop at a flashing red light. When he was pulled over his blood alcohol content was .11 and he was issued two tickets totaling $1,593.
