The last time I checked, we as a country thrive with free trade and capitalism, which to me is great because then people actually have something to work for.

What comes to mind when you’re asked questions about people like Karl Marx, Joseph Stalin or maybe even Vladimir Lenin? I know the first thing that would come to my mind is thoughts about Marxism and socialism and how they were very bad forms of governing throughout history. So if we are taught to believe that these leaders were bad people in our history classes, then it would only make sense to believe that people who share the same beliefs as these leaders can’t very well be trusted. So in accepting this philosophy, why would anyone support a person like that in our country?

I’m going to introduce you to our very own home-grown socialist/Marxist. But first let me inform you as to what such thinkers believe.

On June 29, 2004, this individual said, “We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.” She said this while addressing a group of wealthy Democratic supporters, in reference to repealing Bush’s tax cuts.

Another good one occurred on May 29, 2007: “It’s time for a new beginning, an end to government of the few, by the few and for the few, time to reject the idea of an ‘on your own’ society and to replace it with shared responsibility for shared prosperity. I prefer a ‘we’re all in it together’ society.”

I don’t know about you, but that’s sounding more and more like socialism to me. Don’t worry; there’s more. This next statement was made on June 4, 2007 at the CNN presidential forum. “...We can’t keep talking about our dependence on foreign oil, and the need to deal with global warming, and the challenge that it poses to our climate and God’s creation, and just let business as usual go on. And that means something has to be taken away from some people.” The last time I checked we as a country thrive with free trade and capitalism, which to me is great because then people actually have something to work for. If we should all be equal, then it would only make sense that since we’re all students we should be treated the same, right? In that respect, I’m going to stop going to class everyday to earn an A and instead receive a D while you go to class and try hard everyday to earn an A. Out of fairness, though, we should both be given a C+. I mean, come on...that would be fair, wouldn’t it? Well, by now I’m sure you’re all wondering who it was that made those comments. It was none other than our very own homegrown Marxist, Hillary Clinton. Scary, isn’t it? I sure think so. We live in a capitalistic society where there is no limit as to how much money you can make, so long as you have the skill that’s required or the product that meets the demands. To me, it seems fair to say that a doctor of neurology should be earning substantially more than someone who works the grill part time at the local fast food joint. I mean, if we all earned the same amount of money regardless of the job that we’re working at, that doesn’t seem fair.

Sure, enough of you will think that I’m greedy in saying there should be no limit on the amount of money an individual earns, but I say to you, why should there be a limit, and why should the wealthy be penalized with more taxes just for being wealthy?

To me, that doesn’t sound fair. However, free trade and capitalism, now that’s fair.

Well this is a new concept: Conservative columnist critiqued by an anonymous poster. Alert the press!

Mr. Pesch's paralells between Hillary and Marxism are both valid and VERY alarming. I know that I won't be voting for Marxist in 2008...

There is a VERY good reason why this country has made little to no headway in the last fifty years when it comes to the greater good, and it's because of people like this writer. I am not a supporter of Hillary Clinton by any stretch, but I am a supporter of the common good. Universal health care is not a socialist conspiracy to destroy democracy, it is something that every nation on earth should strive for. Everyone has the right to live and be healthy, not just the people who can afford to pay for it. A healthy nation is a strong nation. Your ridiculous comparison to grades and socialism is alarming, and the first poster was right, your understanding is at a fourth grade level. We are not talking about making everyone equal, and no one really thinks that capitalism in this nation should be abolished. However every single person has the right to live in peace, security and comfort, and that right is not afforded only to those who are ruthless enough to screw others over in their quest for personal and financial freedom. Apparently this writer is content with the way that things are going now, with oil prices at an all time high (in 2000 oil was $27 a barrel, today it is $92), new concerns about our environment springing up every day, and a war that cannot possibly be won still raging. Mrs. Clinton, in spite of the fact that she is a lunatic, is absolutely right, things have to change. Nearly half of the American population is without health insurance, meaning that half of the people no longer have the right to live, according to the insurance companies. Our dependence on foreign oil is exactly what is getting soldiers and civilians alike killed in Iraq, and personal freedoms are being attacked left and this planet is not meant to survive only until this generation dies out. Every generation has the right to this planet, and the people who still think that the year is 1952 are the ones who are keeping this society from progressing. If Greenland can survive completely on hydrogen energy, why the hell can't we? If Canada, Cuba and 80% of Europe as well as most of Asia can keep their populations healthy by providing them healthcare, why shouldn't it be so in the United States? You, sir, are the lunatic, and I pray that someone like you never seeks political office. Love for humanity comes before your ridiculous perceptions on what socialism really is, and that is the bottom line.
