A record 1,050 participants turned out for the 3rd annual Panther Prowl 5K run/walk Sunday morning.
Prowlers braved the rainy conditions to raise money for student scholarships at the university. The run began on Hartford Ave. with runners working their way southeast through Upper Lake Park, and back to the campus area.
Trophies were awarded to the top three finishers in each age category, largest team, and top individual fundraisers. Last year, about 800 participants raised nearly $151,000 for scholarships. Milwaukee Bucks Head Coach Larry Krystkowiak and CBS 58 Meteorologist Chris McGinness were on hand to support the runners pre-race. The event was hosted by the UWM Alumni Association and sponsored by numerous area businesses and organizations.
