“I like getting to know the people that come into the Green Room,” said Kaufman. “I get paid to workout, how could I not love this job?”

Hilarious and full of life are two ways to describe this week’s fitness instructor, Noah Kaufman.

Kaufman, a junior, is pursuing a degree in elementary education while working in the Green Room for the second year, teaching four fitness classes a week.

In his spare time, he enjoys “National Geographic,” long walks on the beach, candle-lit dinners, cooking and watching “Scrubs.”

When asked why Sandburg residents should workout in the Green Room, Kaufman responded, “It’s close, the staff are friendly, and it’s a good way to meet people.”

Here’s a question for all of you Sandburg residents: What are you doing on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.? Most of you would probably respond with, “Sleeping.” If that’s the case, I challenge you this Tuesday to roll out of bed, throw on some tennis shoes and get ready to burn off some fat in a half hour class led by Noah, along with another Green Room fitness instructor.

“Morning Burn” focuses on toning the abdominals and butt through various exercises including crunches, supermans, and fire hydrants. Now, most of you are probably wondering, “What the hell are fire hydrants?” You’ll just have to go to the class and find out for yourself. My lips are sealed.

If you’re not satisfied with only 30 minutes of Noah on Tuesday morning, then by all means come to his Tuesday afternoon class as well from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

In this hour long class entitled “Fire Up That Fat-Burning Furnace,” get ready for the works. Yoga, cardio, and lifting are all incorporated. So, if you are the type of person who likes a little bit of everything in your work outs, then this is the class for you.

And, if an hour and a half is not enough time with Noah for you then you also have the opportunity to take Noah’s 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. class, “Sports Training.”

This class is designed to take a specific sport and train for that sport. Soccer, volleyball and football are just some examples of the sports that are trained through exercises and drills in this class. Noah likes to take this class outside if the weather cooperates.

On Wednesday afternoons from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Noah teaches “Mix It Up,” a low-intensity class which changes from week to week. It’s designed to cater specifically to the residents in the class, so if you have ideas, suggestions, or an area that you want to tone, then check this class out.

For a guaranteed fun time and a chance to get that heart rate up, stop by the Green Room and take one of Noah’s classes.
