UWM awarded $254,237 research grant

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee was awarded $254,237 to help students from low-income and disadvantaged backgrounds pursue doctoral research and studies.

U.S. Senator Herb Kohl announced today that Wisconsin had been awarded with more than $2.5 million to be distributed to 11 state colleges through the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement program (McNair) grants. The McNair grants help schools provide academic counseling, financial aid assistance and research opportunities for students seeking advanced degrees, stated a press release from Kohl. The program aim is to boost the number of Ph.D. degrees awarded to students from underrepresented segments of society.
