A bicycle was reported stolen to University Police on Sept 21. The bicycle was locked with a chain and combination lock outside the physics building between 11 a.m. and 7:50 p.m. on Sept 20. The total value of the bicycle and lock was $110.
A purse was reported stolen from Merrill Hall room 314 on Sept 21. The victim left her purse in the room between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. When she returned for it, it was gone. $60 in cash and another $20 worth of personal items, including a check book, credit cards, driver’s license and social security card, were in the purse. There are currently no witnesses and no suspects.
A bike was stolen from the racks between the Engineering and Mathematical Sciences Building and the Chemistry Building on Sept. 22. The bike was locked with a chain and padlock from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The total value lost was $60.
A 19-year-old student was cited for underage possession of an intoxicant on Sept. 22. UWM police were on patrol in the lower level of the Sandburg Hall parking lot when they saw a man carrying a large, black duffel bag with both hands.
The officers could see what appeared to be the outlines of multiple 12 oz cans showing through the bag. Officers stopped the man and asked him his age and if there was any alcohol in the bag. The man confessed to having alcohol, but asked if he could “just leave it in the car.” Police opened the bag and discovered 30 unopened cans of Miller High Life Beer and 30 unopened cans of Busch Light beer.
UWM police received a report that a young man was drinking beer by the vending area of Sandburg’s south tower Saturday night. Police responded to the call and discovered a man matching the description drinking a 12 oz. can of Busch Light beer. The man, a 19-year-old UWM student, was cited for underage possession of an intoxicant.
A bicycle was stolen from outside the Union on Sept 22. It was locked with a chain and padlock. The bicycle was worth $410. There are no witnesses or suspects.
A $350 bicycle was reported stolen from the lawn of Sandburg South Tower. The bike was taken between Sept. 17 and Sept. 24 at 3 p.m. There are no suspects.
A backpack was stolen from the 2nd floor of the Klotsche Pavilion on Sept. 24. Personal items including six textbooks and a Nokia cell phone were in the backpack when it was taken. The total loss was $472.
Graffiti was discovered in the men’s room of the Fine Arts Theatre on Sept 25. Black marker was used to make the illegible marks on a toilet seat. The entire toilet seat was replaced for $70.
Graffiti was discovered in the Mitchell basement men’s room Sept 25. The graffiti appeared to say “Goldfinger.” Cleanup costs were estimated at $25.
A counterfeit $20 bill was found in the cashier’s office at Mitchell Hall on Sept 25. It is unclear which money bag the bill came from. Campus police turned the bill over to the U.S. Secret Service.
A burglary was committed in Sandburg’s East Tower on Sept. 27. The victims locked their dorm room and left at 11:50. When they returned at noon, the door was still locked, but the background of a desktop computer had been changed to a pornographic picture. Eventually, one of the residents discovered that his girlfriend’s laptop had been taken. Surveillance footage was examined, but no one was seen leaving the room with a computer. The total loss was $1,400.
Campus police responded on Sept 27 to a report of a suspicious smell made by Sandburg security. The officers proceeded to the 15th floor of South Tower, the apparent source of the smell. When the officers knocked on the door where the smell was strongest and asked why the room smelled like marijuana, the occupant said he didn’t know. The officers noticed a rolled up towel by the door, and asked the occupant if he had been smoking marijuana. The man said he had smoked a “blunt” earlier, but it was gone. The officers asked to search the room, and the man pointed them in the direction of his desk. Police discovered a glass pipe, which tested positive for marijuana, and an orange pill bottle. The man was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
