Warping children’s minds so they can fulfill your agenda down the line is exactly the same as mental child molestation.

If George Orwell were to rise from his grave in the United States today, I’m sure that following the initial shock of resurrection, he would be oddly gratified to find that his dismal vision of the future has come true, in a sense, in the freest nation in the world.

As I watched “Jesus Camp” recently, I was eerily reminded of the opening scene from the film “1984,” in which a bunch of mindless, angry, hate-filled morons shout at the screen for the Two Minutes Hate.

Instead of a screen that advertises the face of a traitor, it is an empty pulpit; and instead of mindless morons, we have children.

Welcome to the Ministry of Tolerance. Here, we will take the Jell-O mold that is your child’s mind and twist it to fit our agenda. We are creating an army, you see, and we plan to make it very clear to all that if you oppose us, we will mow you down.

As a lapsed Catholic, I am very perplexed by the wave of Evangelism sweeping this country. The Jesus that I grew up with doesn’t bear much to their Jesus. In fact, their Jesus is kind of a jerk.

There are other words for it, but I’m not allowed to print them here.

But that’s neither here nor there. If you haven’t seen “Jesus Camp,” you are missing a wonderful chance to witness brainwashing in action.

The methods of manipulation that the Evangelicals use are sophisticated enough to make Pavlov’s jaw drop. Numerous times throughout the film, key adults are sure to remind us that they are training these kids to “take back” America for Jesus.

As they say this, they make sure to remind the children that Jesus loves them one minute, then the next they are bringing them to tears by reminding them how horrible they are and that they are going to hell because they may not follow the beliefs of their elders to the letter.

If you’re not confused, then you don’t know what’s going on.

Bear in mind, these are people who insist that creationism (which has NO scientific basis in fact), should be taught in public schools instead of evolution; they are willing to use the memories of aborted babies to guilt their children into following their religion, and some have picketed military funerals because the soldiers died defending a country which supposedly is a hotbed of sin.

At one point the camp leader actually tells the viewer that they are using tactics that extremist Muslims use to turn their children into fundamentalist killers. Hook them while they’re young and make sure that your beliefs are theirs.

Watching “Jesus Camp,” I felt sick to my stomach, morbidly fascinated and horrified. Not because, as Becky Fischer (organizer of Jesus Camp), says, they are training an army to turn the U.S. into JesusWorld, but because the idea of anyone being so cruel to children offends me to no end.

In my mind, warping children’s minds so they can fulfill your agenda down the line is exactly the same as mental child molestation. They are taking children who do not know any better and are training them to spread messages of hate to others.

And the worst part is that they are never going to know exactly why they are doing it.

Welcome to JesusWorld. Please, check your things at the Ministry of Tolerance and proceed to your nearest chapel.
