If you are among the avid YouTube crazed generation, I’m sure you’ve seen the latest video of a long-haired blonde skinny boy, reportedly named Chris Crocker, crying out for people to leave the pop singer Britney Spears alone.

The video has created such a stir that it became the No. 1 most watched YouTube video for a week in a row on the Web site.

It all began Sept. 9 in Las Vegas at the MTV Video Music Awards, when Britney Spears came out to open the awards show with a performance that was shocking but for all the wrong reasons.

The pop star seemed under the influence and marked through her performance. “She just didn’t seem into it at all,” said rapper Common who was in attendance at the awards.

Come Monday morning, every morning talk show and news channel had bashed the pop star for her lackluster performance. Even the Associated Press, who stays neutral on most issues, published headlines of “Britney Spears Bombs at the VMAs.”

Thousands of Britney fans logged on after the VMA performance and voiced their concerns or support through online forums, chat rooms and Britney fan websites. But one that gained the most attention came from Crocker.

The two minute video features him up-close with the camera continually crying out in disturbing emotion that people are hurting the pop star by continuing their hate. “Her song is called ‘Gimme More’ for a reason.”

Crocker cries in the video, addressing the camera through tear-smudged eyeliner and from underneath a bed sheet, “Because all you people want is more, more, more, more, more!”

He continues, “Leave her alone, you're lucky she even performed for you bastards.”

ABC News scored an over the phone interview with Crocker who confessed he was using an alternative name because of all the death threats he was getting. He said he was 19, from a small town in Tennessee and hoping to be an actor.

Crocker has his own MySpace page and there he puts video performance pieces of his acting, though he claims that the last one he shot of Britney was the real deal.

“There's been a lot of speculation that because I do a lot of acting in my videos, that this wasn't actually a real moment,” Crocker said.

In an interview with NYC radio station, Z100, rapper Kanye West said he knew Britney was going to bomb. But he also went on to take the pop stars side and slam MTV.

He said, “They knew that Britney wasn’t ready and they had her perform so they exploited her.”
