OK, you’ve got the brushing your teeth in the shower thing down and you turn off your lights every time you leave your room, right? So now you should start buying vintage clothes to complete your personalized green mission.

There are many places on the East Side that cater to those who love the vintage look. Whether it’s bell bottoms from the ‘70s or psychedelic prints from the ‘60s, these shops will help bring out your inner bohemian and your inner green goddess.

A-Hem Clothing Company
E. Irving Pl.
Take the 30 south on Farwell and get off on Irving St. A-Hem is a few steps west.
This is the only vintage store that offers students a discount; a 10 percent discount, to be exact. They offer flowing dresses, shoes, bags and jewelry. A-Hem is a little bit off the beaten path but worth the stop.

Annie's 2nd Hand Chic
1668 N. Warren Ave.
Take the 30 to the Brady St. and Farwell Avenue stop. Warren is half block west.
Walk into Annie’s and you will feel like you are walking into the 1960s. The place is cramped but with good reason. The selection of vintage clothes and jewelry are endless.

Dragonfly Vintage Goods and Gifts
1117 E. Brady St.
Take the 15 south on Oakland Avenue and get off on Brady St. and Humboldt Boulevard.
Dragonfly has gone through some dramatic changes in the past year. The store, which used to be primarily all vintage clothes, has now changed its inventory to mostly all vintage furniture. Pick up a cool art deco chair or a brass candleholder from the 1950s.

Yellow Jacket Vintage Clothing
1237 E. Brady St.
Take the 15 south on Oakland Avenue and get off on Brady St. and Humboldt Boulevard.
If organization by color is your thing then you will love Yellow Jacket. Their clothes hang neatly on racks and are easy to peruse. Their prices can be a little steep but check any of your local newspapers and they will have 10-25 percent off coupons to use at your disposal.

Niche Style / Sound
1922 E. Park Pl.,
Take the 15 south and get off on Park Place. Walk two blocks east. It’s just south of Newberry.
The closest vintage shop to campus, this shop is easy to walk to from the dorms, especially if it is a nice day. Their prices reflect those of a cheap store that is geared toward the young people that live in the neighborhood. Vintage clothes and albums make up most of their merchandise.
