Panthers pounce in Iowa
Drake Relays put UWM track ahead

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Track and Field teams headed to Des Moines, Iowa to compete in the Drake Relays over the weekend.
Qualifying for NCAA regionals, Holly Nearman broke the school 5000m record coming in at 16:47 and placing third in the event.
In a two day decathlon Justin Bohler earned 6,741 points, allowing him to start UWM off by placing ninth overall. He clocked 11.0 in the 100m and ran 14.7 in the 110m, giving him a huge advantage raking up 1665 points in those two events alone.
Jenni Saarinen finished fourth in the heptathlon by scoring 5,013 points. Also running the 10,000m, Angie Huebner placed ninth with a time of 38:29.34 and two other Panthers were behind her, Abbie Zaspel in 10th with 38:38.60 and Liz Brothen taking 19th with 40:39.68.
On Friday, Darrin Cole, Adam Schleis, Isaiah Adams and Tyler Bucholz qualified for the 4x100m relay finals, clocking in at 41.18 in the relay.
Placing 23rd in the 4x100m relay preliminaries, Beth Zimmerman, Kelsey Conrad, Emily Budde and Angie Kaufmann ran a time of 47.70. In addition, Conrad and Kaufmann were paired with Shannon Buttchen and Laura Ring for the 4x400m, placing 31st and earning a time of 3:55.41.
UWM split the team up this weekend to compete at the Drake Relays, the Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa and in the Marquette Invitational. Next week the teams will be traveling to Indianapolis for the Horizon League Multi- Events at Butler University.
