Yeah, there are a lot of funny things out on the Internet. Pictures of LolCats (icanhascheezburger.com), web comics (xkcd.com) and articles (collegehumor.com) spam your screen every day.
But sometimes that one funny video flies under your viral video radar. Here is a handful that you may have missed. But no worries, you can still find them on YouTube
Video: “Bo Burnham”
YouTube keyword: Bo Burnham
Bo is a lyrical genius and most of his songs are very clever. Armed with only a guitar he sings about a range of topics that include why Helen Keller was the prefect woman and what would a rehab center for fictional characters would be like. I suggest you start with “Bo Fo’ Sho’” and “3.14 Apple Pie.”
Video: “Washington, Washington”
YouTube keyword: Washington he’s comin’
This may seem a little obscure at first, but watch the whole thing. If you think Mount Rushmore pays tribute to one of our founding fathers, you haven’t seen anything yet. You’ll see George in new light after this video. I mean the guy is 12 stories tall and made of radiation. Awesome.
Video: “The Professor Brothers: Bible History #1”
YouTube keyword: prof bros
This is by the same guy who did “Washington, Washington.” If you thought you knew the history of Sodom and Gomorrah, you don’t know the half of it. If the Bible was this funny all the time then church would be way more fun. Someone should take note and start a comedy church, then husbands wouldn’t skip out and the kids would be excited.
Video: “Powerthirst”/”Powerthirst 2”
YouTube keyword: Powerthirst
This pair of videos parodies energy drinks and drinks that “refuel and re-hydrate.” They don’t pull any punches in pointing out the obvious: Energy drinks claim to make you superhuman, but only one truly does, and that’s POWER THIRST. These videos were so popular that a real-life car dealership ripped off the basic idea. Check that out at http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1801889. The sad thing is that it’s kind of funny, too.
Video: “Derrick Comedy”
YouTube keyword: Derrick Comedy
An up-and-coming comedy troupe, Derrick Comedy has ceased making videos to film a full-length feature film. But that won’t stop you from watching some of its previous endeavors into comedy. I suggest starting slow to get used to the group by watching “Self Defense,” “Bro Rape” and “Rookie.” From there, work up to “Keyboard Kid,” “National Spelling Bee” and “Jazz Man.”
Video: “Potter Puppet Pals in ‘The Mysterious Ticking Noise’”
YouTube keyword: ticking noise
This video has been up for just over a year and already has over 41 million views. It cannot be described, it can only be experienced. It’s that good. The best is when you get five others and you all sing the parts.
Now, this is just a short list to keep your viral video needs satisfied for the meantime. There are plenty of others out there that are just as funny. As for these videos in this article, show your friends and family for a good laugh. Who knows, even grandma might get a kick out of “Powerthirst.”
