If the Brewers starter threw his fastball against a window, it would bounce back.

I am going to attempt to say this as nicely and as euphemistically as possible: David Thomas Bush sucks.

It sounds very harsh, but believe me, sucks remains a much more politically correct choice than the alternative; every other choice would be a four letter word that can easily be replaced with shift+5, 3, 7, 2.

Through his first two starts, his ERA remains higher than Ricky Williams on a Saturday night, and after giving up four runs in five innings on April 9th in a loss to the Cincinnati Reds, his ERA actually went down.

His strikeout to walk ratio makes Joe Borowski look like Rollie Fingers, and batters continue to make Bush synonymous with batting practice. If the Brewers starter threw his fastball against a window, it would bounce back.

He will make over $2.5 million in 2008 which will turn out to be about 2.5 per win, which will most likely come out of the ‘pen after a blown hold. The opposing teams should pay his salary because they like the sight of him on the mound a lot more than anyone else.

However, good news does exist and it comes in the form of Yovani Gallardo. Hurt before the start of the season, Gallardo joins the Brewers rotation following his minor league rehabilitation starts; he is expected to make his first start April 19 against the division-rival Reds.

With Dave “Bush League” occupying the third spot in the Crew’s rotation, YoGa can make a seamless transition and not distort the pitching cycle. Unlike some one, I will not name names or point fingers, Gallardo actually prefers to get men out rather than let them have a track meet on the bases.

His repertoire includes a sharp curveball to complement his low 90s fastball and he may quickly become the best third pitcher in the National League.
