Ask Wind Woman!
Wind Woman, the energy-saving superhero, answers your questions!
This week’s question...
Julius writes: “Hey, Wind Woman! What’s up with this dorm energy competition I’ve heard about?”
Good question, Julius!
The dorm energy competition is a contest during the month of April between the north and south towers of Sandburg. The tower that reduces its energy consumption the most wins a pizza and movie party. If you live in the dorms (or if you don’t), here are a few tips to reduce your energy consumption.
1) Do it in the dark! Turn off lights and all other electrical appliances when not in use.
2) Unplug appliances. Keeping appliances plugged in, even if not turned on, will use energy. Unplugging your cell phone charger is a great way to put this tip into practice.
3) Take quick showers.
4) Wait to do your laundry until you can wash a full load. Use cold water when you can.
5) Take the stairs instead of the elevator, when possible.
More dorm energy reduction tips are posted all over the dorms, so keep an eye out! Follow these tips to lead your tower to victory!
Sustainably yours,
Wind Woman

Stop shopping at the dorm mini-marts. Those one use snacks are a huge waste of materials (energy).
Stop eating meat: The meat industry is the number one contributor to pollution and climate change.
