Peck School of Arts pegs new Dean
UWM’s Peck School of the Arts selected former North Carolina School of the Arts Chancellor Wade Hobgood as its dean, according to a recent Journal Sentinel report. Hobgood is currently a professor of mass communications at the University of North Carolina in Asheville.
Campus robbery suspect in custody
A suspect of three armed robberies that took place last Monday evening is in custody, with another suspect on the loose. The robberies took place south of campus on E. Kenwood Blvd. between 8 and 9 p.m. on the evening of March 24, with the suspect being apprehended about an hour after the crime occurred. All three robberies involved a suspect aiming a rifle at victims and demanding money, according to the reports.
Transit system announces bus route reconfigurations
Effective Sunday, March 23, four Milwaukee County bus routes were reconfigured as part of a $1.4 million plan to reduce operational costs. Routes affected by the change include the 11 (Vliet-Howell), 14 (Holton-Forest Home), 19 (M.L. King-S. 13), and the 20 (S. 16-S. 20). Route 20 is being replaced, with service being picked up by routes 14 and 19. Additionally, the 11 route will lose a segment of service along Vliet St. between Highland and N. 60 St. For more information, visit RideMCTS.com.
UWM to launch master plan
On April 4 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. a collaborative meeting will be held in the Wisconsin Room of the Union with the consulting teams that will lead UWM's collaborative and comprehensive master planning process. The presentation will be an overview of how the UWM academic community will interact with the consultants during the next two years. Students and community members are encouraged to attend.
