The name Niche came about after brainstorming for a name that would work well for each others passion of clothing and music.

Nestled between Oakland and Maryland Avenues is the clothing and vinyl store, Niche. Located just out of eyesight at 1922 E. Park Place, Niche specializes in a mixture of Vintage/Indie, clothing as well as the East Side’s largest collection of Electronic Vinyl. The store also features artwork from local artists that is switched out every 2-3 months.

Niche opened back in September of 2004 as a business venture between Brandi Kupsky and Justin Grall. The two sought to try opening a store combining Brandi’s love of fashion and clothing with Justin’s love of Electronic and Vinyl.

In the front half of the store is the clothing side of Niche. A combination of vintage stylized clothing compromises over half of their selection, while the other being home to an indie designer based in California.

Both men’s and women’s clothing have been hand-picked by Brandi, usually from estate or rummage sales. Only pieces that catch her eye and that are in good condition make the selection. Niche changes its clothing seasonally and is constantly adding to their collection of clothes.

Niche has the East Side’s only electronic vinyl collection. Catering to underground electronic music, locale DJ’s and electronic enthusiasts have been coming to Niche because of the selection and rarities of the music that is found there.

Justin has been collecting albums since 1997 and personally listens to and hand picks every record that is in store. Justin is open to answering any questions about the records or local music events. He is usually in-shop after 5:30 PM during the week, and all day Saturday.

With listening stations available, it is easy to listen to and find something that appeals to an individual’s tastes. New records are added on a weekly basis and special orders can be made.

With spring just around the corner, Niche is the perfect place to find something new for when it gets warmer out. Niche is open Monday through Saturday, 12 PM to 7 PM.
