Well we play everything, from our three albums that is. Before the tour we went through all the songs just to make sure that we were good to play them all.

Limbeck is a California band that has built a following of fans the old fashioned way; with good albums and constant touring to cities all around the world. They’ve made plenty of stops in Milwaukee the past few years. They are coming back this week for their first ever performance in the historic Turner Hall.

But there not just a California Band their current drummer Jon Phillip is a local Milwaukee guy with a lot of musical history in this city and been part of a lot of locally famous local bands.

The Post checked in with the band’s guitarist Patrick Carrie from their tour van on road to get the heads up on the show and their opinions about our now snow covered state.

Post: Could you explain Alt-Country for those out there that have no idea what it is?

Patrick: To me I guess it’s like an alternate to for people that really don’t like the sappy 1990s’s production of what country is. It’s not really Punk Country. It’s not really Pop country. It’s an alternativ to what’s out there I guess.

Post: How’s the tour going?

Patrick: It’s going great, we just got out of Idaho coming through the mountains and had a little scare there with weather. Didn’t think we were going to get out, but otherwise we’re in Salt Lake City now and alright. I’ve heard you guys have had some snow out there.

Post: Yeah, we’ve had 70 inches or so and are expecting more You’re playing in Turner Hall Ballroom a relatively “New” space to perform in Milwaukee that has a lot of history are you excited at all?

Patrick: Well Jon our drummer is from Milwaukee, and said he’s been there and it’s a cool place. We’re so used to playing at Mad Planet that it’s a little scary that we aren’t playing there, but we are excited it’s a much bigger space.

Post: When Jon joined the band how do you think it changed? Jon has really brought a lot to the music. He will really add to a song. He knows a lot about music.

Post: Can you give us a funny story about Jon on the road?

Patrick: I have one but I don’t thinks it’s good to print. Let me survey the van—I really don’t have one that fit to print but there really is a good one.

Post: All right well go back to the concert. Will you be playing anything new at the show?

Patrick: Well we play everything, from our three albums that is. Before the tour we went through all the songs just to make sure that we were good to play them all. You’ll hear some of everything. There is a new song that we have that we are defiantly going to play that.

Post: We read on your message boards that you are not going to drink at the Dayton Ohio show; do you plan to do the same in Milwaukee? Patrick: We don’t have a van in Milwaukee so, no. You don’t have to worry about that. We will be drinking plenty of PBR.

Post: Since you are coming to Milwaukee there are a few things we like to know. What is your favorite beer? Patrick: I’m actually a cheep beer kind of guy. I drink PBR.

Post: and your favorite cheese would be?

Patrick: I’m a big fan of Mexican food. Pepper Jack. I also like cheddar. I don’t know about the rest of the guys they like some fancy cheese maybe.

Post: Now a very important question. Who has better cheese Wisconsin or California?

Patrick: I’ve got to go with Wisconsin. There just fresh cheese everywhere. If you stop in a gas station in Wisconsin you have a selection of Cheeses. If you stop in a gas station in California you get maybe so string cheese sticks and that’s all.

Post: Now even tougher Wisconsin or France, better cheese?

Patrick: I don’t know, I don’t support France—so I’m going to have to go with Wisconsin.

Post: Best things to come out of Wisconsin?

Patrick: Brett Favre and the Packers, I really would have like to watch the Super Bowl if they were in it. I really wanted to see the Chargers and Packers in the Super Bowl. What do you think is the best thing to come out of Wisconsin, being from there?

Post: Cheese, I guess because I eat that every day. Anything you’d like to say?

Partick: We were in a place last week that has the record for fifth most PBRs sold at a venue or something. And we were wondering if Turner Hall had something like that? We just looking to set a record and have a good time.
