So I’m going to continue what I what I had once considered finished and once again look into my Princess’ castle to see what video games have taught me about living you life with you true love.
So you found your Peach and have had your happily ever after with minimal appearances of Bowser and his dastardly children mucking up you relationship, but there are always other ways of destroying your perfect relationship and running out of extra lives.
One year ago I began an exploration into how video games taught players to search for true love outside of their CG worlds. Hopefully my ideas worked any you all went out and found yourselves some nice Peaches, Marios or Yoshis. (It’s fine if you swing that way I won’t judge.) The question arises, what now?
Are you just supposed to settle and drive off into the sun set in your shiny red Mario carts? Not quite, unfortunately you’ve just reached the hard part. The game has been set to difficult and there is a whole new group of baddies to deal with and you don’t have as many lives as you did the previous round.
It’s going to be a hard road to travel, but stick with it and resist the urge to hit that all-too-inviting reset button. You can work your way through these hard experiences. You just need to look at games some more.
So I’m going to continue what I what I had once considered finished and once again into my Princess’ castle to see what video games have taught me about living your life with you true love and what it’s going to take to adjust to a world you are quite unfamiliar with.
There always seems to be something that disturbs Mario and Peaches’ relationship. Whether it be that their vacation is halted by the local P.D. or our star festival is ruined by an interplanetary invasion, Mario and Peach have the perfect relationship. It will always lend itself as the archetype of what I someday hope to achieve.
Now I’m not talking about marriage, because believe it or not they have never gotten married and are still just dating, even after 20 years.
The important thing you learn when play all the Mario games is that Mario always works through the hard times. Peach stands by giving support or getting involved in the fiasco.
There is always this idea that they are going to get through what ever evildoers throw at them. I guess that is what makes their relationship so special, knowing that they can stand up to anything and come out the same on the other side.
I guess that why everyone loves Mario and Peach. They know that their love is true love and nothing will ever change it.
In this world where everyone’s parents are divorced and most are less than optimistic it’s nice to see that two fictional icons can stay together after everything that happened in their 20-year relationship.
Their secret must be in their world. So I’m going once again through my game collection to see how these modern stories teach their players about life and relationships.
