Black students more likely to have off-campus jobs, according to study

According to a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee study, black students are nearly three times more likely than white students to have off-campus jobs that interfere with their schoolwork. The study hopes to uncover issues that will help area schools boost minority enrollment. Several state campuses are working on “equity scorecards” to help evaluate college performances in recruiting and retaining minority students.

Taco Bell reopens

The Taco Bell located in the UWM Union reopened over break with a new look, sporting bright neon lights and a more modern appearance. The popular lunch spot closed over Thanksgiving break for remodeling.

Senate Appropriations Committee meeting slated for Wednesday

The first Senate Appropriations Committee (SAC) meeting will be held Wednesday, January 23 at 8:30 p.m. in room EG 79 of the Union. New SAC bylaws stipulate that student organizations will be allowed a maximum of four fund requests per semester. Student organizations are urged to adjust their requests accordingly.

PantherMail Begins Important Changes

According to a campus-wide e-mail, beginning on Jan. 28, the process of migrating e-mail data from the current PantherMail servers to the new PantherLink environment, which will support UWM’s new e-mail and calendar system, will begin. This migration is necessary to prepare for the launch of PantherLink, UWM’s new e-mail/calendar system, scheduled for campus deployment this summer.
