At many moments it seems as though coffee is a college student’s best friend—a notion more than prevalent at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. With the Grind and other coffee vendors appearing left and right on and around campus, the need for caffeine can be more than expensive. But the UWM Program Services Center has come up with a one-time remedy for this: the Coffee House.
Promoted as a laid-back atmosphere where students can study or hang out, the University Housing staff will be serving free coffee donated by Starbucks. Students will even be able to keep the University Housing mug the coffee is served in, while supplies last.
The Coffee House, funded by SHAC, will be held on Dec. 4 from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Residents will be able to come and go as they please, but an extra incentive to stay as long as possible is boosted by a raffle. Each hour, coffee-themed prizes like mugs or individual packets of coffee will be given away.
It should also be noted that even though this event is scheduled to take place in the Channel, the Channel isn’t fully operational yet. This is a great way for students to get an early peek at this great new campus feature.
But don’t fret; the delay will fully be made up for by other events hosted by the PSC. On Dec. 10, residents will be given a chance to create their own holiday gifts at the Holiday Gift Bonanza—guaranteed to be a great stress reliever during the crucial weeks of finals.
Both events are assured to be fun ways to unwind and have a good time for all of Sandburg’s residents in the upcoming weeks, and what could be better than a relaxing day and a free cup of coffee with the mug it came in?
