SA president fires director
Firing long time coming
By Nicole Arata
Student Association (SA) President Rob Grover fired his Academic Affairs Director Brian Bromberek Oct. 25 over personality conflicts.
Grover says that he does not like Bromberek’s style of dealing with the school administration, and has talked with Bromberek earlier this year about Bromberek’s style.
“We just do not see eye to eye. The directors are supposed to represent the president,” said Grover.
Grover kept Bromberek on as director since Bromberek was already working for the Samantha Prahl administration and Grover was impressed with Bromberek’s knowledge of textbook and differential tuition issues.
Bromberek was not surprised with Grover’s decision to let him go. He sensed tension between him and Grover in the office.
“I am not going to lie, it hurts. No one wants to be fired,” Bromberek said.
Bromberek was also thinking about quitting his job at semester’s end because the job takes a toll on him.
Deputy Senate Speaker Joe Ohler was surprised upon hearing Grover firing Bromberek. Ohler always thought of Bromberek as a hard worker. He continued by saying that none of the other staff was surprised about the firing.
Bromberek will remain on the Senate and all the committees he is on, including the Senate Finance Committee that begins the meetings Nov. 6.
Both Grover and Bromberek say they will remain professional and may collaborate on ideas for the Senate.
