Seriously, she is pretty darn good.
Recording her 25th shutout of her career, a Horizon League record, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee sophomore Erin Kane led the UWM Panthers to a 1-0 win over the University of Wisconsin on Sunday.
Kane, who hasn’t allowed a goal since Oct. 4, made four saves in front of a black- and gold-clad crowd.
The UWM defense has shut down opposing offenses for an astonishing time of 578:43, the second longest streak in school history. The victory also extended Milwaukee’s winning streak to 10 matches, which is a school record.
Sarah Teegarden tallied her fifth game-winning goal of the season, tying yet another school record. The goal came on the third of three straight corner kicks forced by the Panthers. Freshman Kate Megna kicked all three, with the final one ringing true with Teegarden’s head, bouncing off a Badger and into the open net for the game’s only goal.
Not only did Teegarden’s goal seal the victory over Wisconsin, it also ensured a sweep against the state of Wisconsin. UW, UW-Green Bay and Marquette have all fallen victim to the vicious Panthers. In fact, Horizon League foe Green Bay was the only team to even score on the Panthers, and the last team to score on Erin Kane and the dominating defense.
UWM hosts the bottom seed of the Horizon League Tournament on Saturday, with a time as yet to be determined. Check uwmpanthers.com for an update on the time. The Panthers won the Regular Season Championship, and will be seeded first in the playoffs.
