Golda Meir Library Book Sale
Take advantage of the Friends of the Golda Meir Library Used Book Sale – open to UWM students only today, with valid ID, from noon to 6 p.m. With over 6,000 works in a wide variety of genres, there’s something for everyone.

Urban Ecology Center’s Burdock Brigade
Help to improve biodiversity at Riverside Park by assisting in the removal of alien plant species like burdock. The “Burdock Brigade” meets at 9 a.m. at the Urban Ecology Center. For additional information, call 964-8505.
Free Bowling
Free bowling every Tuesday from 7 to 10 p.m. at the UWM Recreation Center. Each participating group must include at least one UWM student or alumni in order to take advantage of this awesome deal. For more information, call 229-4430.

An Evening With Dan Savage
The UWM LGBT Resource Center hosts author and columnist Dan Savage at 8 p.m. in the Union Ballroom. Savage, writer of the popular syndicated relationship and sex advice column, Savage Love, is known internationally for his wit, humor and — at times — crude advice. Lyrical Sanctuary Open Mic Night
Lyrical Sanctuary invites all poets, musicians, visual artists and other performers for an opportunity to express themselves before a live audience. Open Mic Night will begin at 8 p.m. in the Union’s Fireside Lounge, and will feature poet Dasha Kelly. For more information, call 229-6998.

German Culture Day

LOL at the UWM Union Theatre
Catch the 9 p.m. screening of “LOL,” an amusing and reflective film that looks into the role of today’s various communication tools in our ability to function. An additional bonus to this Milwaukee premiere: Filmmaker Joe Swanberg will be in attendance. For additional information, call 229-4070.

Eastside Underfoot
Check out Milwaukee’s newest festival, Eastside Underfoot on East North Avenue between Oakland and Prospect avenues. Hosted by the East Side Association, this weekend-long festival will include cooking classes by Whole Foods, a scavenger hunt, an outdoor animation festival, art demonstrations, various musical performers and a tented Oktoberfest celebration. This is also your last chance to scoop up local produce and crafts at East Side Open Market. A great way to celebrate autumn in Milwaukee!

Panther Madness
Stop down to the U.S. Cellular Arena to check out the UWM’s men’s and women’s basketball teams first public event of the 2006-’07 season. Highlights will include team introductions and scrimmages, as well as opportunities for fans to win a variety of prizes. Admission is free and student shuttle buses will be available to the event.
