Dieter Sturm will be dumping 50,000 pounds of snow on the streets of the Third Ward — creating the largest urban rail jam Milwaukee has ever seen.
When Moda3 opened its doors to the public in June of 2004, they had no idea that they would be hosting one of the most distinctive urban snowboarding festivals Milwaukee has experienced — Boardfest.
On Saturday, Sept. 30, Moda3, which sells skate, street and snow apparel, gear and accessories, will host “Boardfest 06: The Urban Assault Rail Jam III,” from noon until 10 p.m.
In its third year, Boardfest guarantees another year of good music, food, fashion, raffles and, most importantly, snowboarding. Dieter Sturm will be dumping 50,000 pounds of snow on the streets of the Third Ward — creating the largest urban rail jam Milwaukee has ever seen.
And that’s only the beginning. Burton riders Mason and Molly Aquirre, the Forum Youngblood Team and Analog skate pro’s Brian Summer and Ernie Torres will be making special guest appearances at the fest.
If you feel you have what it takes, there will be an open snowboard rail competition featuring a rail, box and wall ride. The open skate competition will include a demo by the Analog Skate team, a mini-vert ramp competition and a highest ollie contest. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners, and spots are limited so pre-registration is required.
Industry reps from Burton, Rome, Forum, Foursquare, Special Blend, Jennyus, DC, Holden, 32, Grenade and many others will be available to answer questions about the latest trends and products for the winter season. Nationwide resorts will also be there to provide everything you need to know before the mercury drops — including information about the best terrain parks, lodging, passes and snowfall statistics.
Interested in shopping for great deals? The fifth-floor blowout sale includes 2006 gear up to half off. Fanatic about the having the most innovative gear on the slopes? The 2007 kickoff sale will introduce merchandise, and will include a Burton fashion show highlighting the latest clothing line for the 2007 winter season. Free prizes will be awarded to attendees.
