World Dance Series: Salsa Dance

UWM Union Ballroom @ 5-10 p.m.

The World Dance Series will be at UWM to teach salsa dance lessons to anyone interested. Dance instruction will be from 5-7 p.m. followed by an inspiring dance performance by Rumba Caliente. Live music and open dance will follow the performance. This event is free and open to the public. For more information call 229-3728.

Tuesday, May 1

The Complexities of Spirituality

UWM Wisconsin Room @ 4 p.m.

Come to join in on a panel discussion where students discuss how they are keeping the faith and what religion and spirituality means to them. Many different religions and spiritual practitioners will be present to provide diverse opinions.

Wednesday, May 2

The Invisible Mexicans of Deer Canyon

UWM Union Theatre @ 7-8:30 p.m.

Director John Carlos Frey explores the life of impoverished Mexicans as they cross borders and lead the life of lonely immigrants. Frey spent one year filming this documentary in California. Admission is free to UWM students.

Thursday, May 3

Mexican Trajes Fashion Show

Golda Meir Library@ 5:30-7 p.m.

Hispanic students from UWM will model traditional dress of several Mexican states. Special guest emcee, Chiquilin of 104.7 FM La Grand radio station, will host the event. Music will be provided by singer Salvador Villaneva.

Friday, May 4

Tuvan Throat Singers

UWM Music Building @ noon

Come and listen to the throat singing group, Alash, as they impress with this radical form of entertainment. A question and answer session will follow the performance. The UWM Music Building is located at 2400 E. Kenwood Blvd. For more information on this free concert visit www.alashensemble.com.

Saturday, May 5

Flower Power on Brady Street

Brady Street Stores and Residences, judging @ 3 p.m.

Brady Street merchants and residents will display unique floral designs using paper, silk, fresh flowers and organic material. All designs will represent interpretations of spring local celebrities. Rob Reitman and Art Kumbalek will judge the creations at 3 p.m. in front of the Brady Street fire station.

Sunday, May 6

Craft Sale

UWM Studio Arts and Crafts Centre @ noon-9 p.m.

Sell your own artistic creations or come by and pick up something for yourself at the student run craft sale. Items of many mediums will be available for purchase. The Centre is located on the street level of the UWM Union room EG30. For more information call 229-5535.
