British humor makes Hot Fuzz shine

Creators of Shaun of the Dead take on Hollywood cop films

It knows the premise of cop thrillers are ridiculous and clearly puts it to good use in mocking the Hollywood bastardization of what it used to mean to be a policeman.

Hot Fuzz is straight up the funniest and best cop thriller in the past five years. Long has the market been plagued by poor scripts and acting.

Luckily for us Simon Pegg (Nicholas Angel) and Edgar Wright (PC Danny Butterman) delivered a brilliant script full of rich dialogue and a clever plot. The witty British humor shines through to give a refreshing new take on cop dramas.

Nicholas Angel, a by-the-book hardcore cop, is promoted for being too good at his job and is sent into the country town of Sandford which is virtually free of crime. He slowly becomes friends with Danny Butterman, the lovable oafish character we all can relate to.

The two are paired together and set out to clean up an already perfect town. Without revealing anything, the duo gets in deep. And I mean deep. It has the heart of Se7en with the flashiness of Bad Boys.

The story takes you through a wonderful ride of gags and shock moments. It knows the premise of cop thrillers are ridiculous and clearly puts it to good use in mocking the Hollywood bastardization of what it used to mean to be a policeman.

Pegg and Wright have created a delicious piece of cop-land fantasy in only a way the British can do. If you enjoyed Shaun of the Dead at all then definitely go and see Hot Fuzz.
