By Ryan Cardarella

Dimitrius Jackson, 22, collapsed at a dance in the Wisconsin room of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Union and died early Saturday morning.

Jackson attended a dance sponsored by the Black Student Union and collapsed suddenly on the dance floor at approximately 12:45 a.m. He hit his head on the floor and began to convulse according to Tom Luljak, UWM vice chancellor for University Relations and Communications.

Jackson was attended to by staff and was still breathing. Paramedics arrived on the scene minutes later and his condition deteriorated. He died while receiving treatment.

According to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiners office, there were no signs of trauma or anything suspicious. Autopsy reports will not be available for several weeks pending toxicology reports, but there is no sign of foul play.

It is believed that Jackson is not currently enrolled at UWM, but was a student here in the past. Enrollment Services officials were unable to verify his enrollment status at this time.
