Society has made such a huge deal out of perfection, and what nobody understands is that perfection is called perfection because it cant be obtained.
Body modification has always fascinated me, for the simple reason that it is a way for people to take control of their own bodies; in a way acting as their own creator.
Having had the misfortune to experience both the good and the bad sides of body modification (surgeries and tattoos), I can understand how people can run away with it.
However I will be the first to admit that having things like tattoos and piercings done is a lot like getting breast/penis implants, although to a less extreme degree. Personally, I cant wrap my head around the people who do either because it isnt adding decoration like getting a tattoo done; its more like adding another room to a house.
Society has made such a huge deal out of perfection, and what nobody understands is that perfection is called perfection because it cant be obtained. No matter what, you will never be perfect in the eyes of society, and nothing you do will change that. At the moment large breasts are in vogue; only 100 years ago women who looked like twigs were considered to be the zenith of unattractiveness.
Even now a backlash is underway against the people who starve themselves in the name of beauty, and Im all for it. Its unhealthy and it doesnt say anything good about the people who do such things.
Turn on any late night TV show and you will see commercial after commercial giving you advice on how to get a larger penis, increase your bust size or get rid of your pimples. First of all, sex does not just center around the penis, and anyone with a brain understands that.
Second of all, the people who are wearing DD size bras are setting themselves up for a plethora of health issues in later years; I have known at least two people who have actively sought ways to decrease their breast size because they were worried about this happening.
Before someone yells Hypocrite! let me explain. If a woman naturally has large breasts, having them reduced is in the best interests of her health. If a woman has naturally small breasts and gets implants, she is spending ridiculous amounts of money to look good now and have health problems later.
The same goes for men and penises. Sorry guys, if you get implants or try to take pills, you run the risk of having the blood flow to your penis getting all messed up, which would render it pretty much useless, putting you in a much worse situation than the one you were already in.
Plastic surgery is also a problem. Having had surgery done to my face, I can honestly tell you that it sucks. I think anyone who has that done out of choice is either insane or incredibly stupid, and I will die before I apologize for that comment. Take a look at people like Ashlee Simpson, Liza Minelli and Michael Jackson.
They are punch lines for the rest of the world because they had plastic surgery done; do you really want to join that club? To my mind, considering things like plastic surgery or implants of any kind makes you a victim. You have allowed yourself to have your life dictated to you by a fickle society.
My point is that in the U.S., perfection comes at a price. Since the idea of perfection is always changing, in the long run its pretty stupid to go to ridiculous lengths to adhere to a trend that might be considered stupid next week.
