PS2 releases a video game worth playing

After a few clashes with the metal monster, Kratos defeats the giant, but is betrayed by Zeus in the process; thus, making him enter a quest to reach the temple of the sisters of fate to stop Zeus from defeating him.
The mighty Kratos returns to the PS2 once again to wield his flaming swords to unleash the bloodbath that is God of War II. Fans of the series will be happy to see no changes to the controls and fighting style of Kratos.
However this is also the games Achilles heel, since the game lacks a fresh feel.
The story begins with the now appointed god of war, Kratos, beginning his destruction of the city of Rhodes. As his Spartans overtake the city, the gods of Olympus are angered by Kratos behavior and they take away his powers.
The game begins almost immediately after pressing start. Kratos is forced to fight the gargantuan statue of Colossus in the Rhodes Harbor. After a few clashes with the metal monster, Kratos defeats the giant, but is betrayed by Zeus in the process, thus making him enter a quest to reach the temple of the sisters of fate to stop Zeus from defeating him. Replace Zeus with Ares, and youre playing the first God of War.
This doesnt mean the game is a complete loss. Just think of it as more levels to the first game. Kratos is still a brutal killing machine, and his Blades of Athena still spray the blood of his enemies all over the screen. The game play still proves that the PS2 is not completely outdated. The landscapes and environment is as beautiful as any Xbox 360 game.
GoW II offers plenty of new features that make it worth playing. Kratos is now able to fly Pegasus on certain levels, which creates a new kind of flight simulator. His blades can also be used to swing from one cliff to the next.
During game play he also receives a medallion that makes time slow down for a brief moment, which can be used to solve puzzles or slice through enemies before they even feel it.
Unlike the first game, finishing this story will not require loss of social life and sunlight. Many of the tricky puzzles from the first game are just regurgitated into the second, so solving them wont be an issue. The bosses on each level arent as hard as the original either; many have obvious weak spots and button combinations that finish them off quickly.
For fans of the original and noobs too, the game is a thrill to pick up and play once through. For the die-hard fanatics looking for something completely different be prepared for a Greek tragedy.
