When you feel the music then feel yourself

By Devon Wiesend

Thereâ??s something about genitalia being referred to in childrenâ??s terms that makes me feel like a youngster myself.

There are many different kinds of music out there that have an array of different affects on one“s psyche. There are songs for romance, songs for broken hearts, songs for bad days, hope, lust, you name it. One group of songs that often goes ignored, or quietly giggled about, is songs about masturbation.

When you are feeling down, try picking yourself up by listening to a song about feeling yourself up. There are a million out there. Songs that you may not have guessed were about self-gratification and songs that are very obvious about their subject matter both have a place on my list. Whether the lyrics put a smile on my face or the suggested activity does, I“m smiling at the end of a bad day.

Here are some songs to end a stressful day:

  1. “I Touch Myself” by The Divinyls. This is probably the most popular of all songs about masturbation, as there is no doubt in anyone“s mind that this is the topic of the entire song.

  2. “She Bop” by Cyndi Lauper. There is speculation that the song is not about masturbation, but have you read the lyrics?

“Do I wanna go out with a lion's roar Huh, yea, I wanna go south n get me some more

Hey, they say that a stitch in time saves nine They say I better stop - or I'll go blind.”

All of the verses are this, uh, unique.

  1. “Dancing with Myself” by Billy Idol. Mr. Idol claims this song was written about an Asian dance club. Sure it was “ or maybe he was just thinking about an Asian dance club at the time.

  2. “Turning Japanese” by The Vapors. This song is reported to be referring to a man“s eyes squinting as he reaches the moment of sexual release. This song is ridiculously politically incorrect and surely offensive, but nonetheless I don“t doubt the song is about masturbation.

  3. “Darling Nikki” by Prince. Prince is overtly sexual and a large number of his songs are sexually oriented, but this is the one song that I remember vividly. The song is actually about a one night stand, but the word “masturbating” is so apparent in the first couple of lines of the song, one cannot ignore it. I picture it in my head, Nikki masturbating in a hotel lobby. The thought is inescapable.

  4. “Forgiven” by Alanis Morrisette. The reference to all of the things Catholic girls are made to feel guilty about means nothing without Morrisette“s easily passed over comment about her brothers never having gone blind for what they did.

  5. “My Ding-a-Ling” by Chuck Berry. This song makes me giggle like a young child whenever I hear it. There“s something about genitalia being referred to in children“s terms that makes me feel like a youngster myself. “I want you to play with my ding-a-ling!” He-he

  6. “Fingers” by Pink. A friend recently found this song online, and we got a good immature laugh about it. Pink sings about pleasuring herself in her racy and blatant way. It is so obvious, I“m not sure if we were laughing out of shock or discomfort. One way or another, we were smiling by the end of the day.

  7. “Blister in the Sun.” by The Violent Femmes. Like a few of the songs on this list, there is just a passing comment about masturbation, but the fleeting moment is pleasurable enough when it comes from Milwaukee“s own rock band.

  8. “Welcome to Paradise” by Green Day. Come on, of course I couldn“t get through this list without mentioning this song. This was the song that I heard when I was at the age of learning just how fun masturbation can be. You know, “I bite my lip and close my eyesâ?¦.”
