The key thing I learn about those fighting games is to roll with the punches. Donâ??t panic if something doesnâ??t go as planned in a fight. So what if your opponent just thumped you on the head as if you were a broken whack-a-mole that wonâ??t go down, your still need to keep your cool and keep fighting.

No game brought more injuries to the heads of its characters than Mortal Kombat, and all the sequels that followed. The way heads took a beating in that game you“d think characters were those weird head-only people you drew in kindergarten.

Getting hit in the head with a spin kick or the ever-dreaded upper cut would leave your character with one-quarter less health.

Back in the day of “Mortal Kombat II,” I always thought that there were no characters more devastating than the lethal twins of Kitana and her sister Mileena. Their stupid unblockable jump kicking would mess with my head more than my sister“s constant berating.

It took me years to learn to crouch-block those stupid kicks. Then still some would slip through my defenses.

Did I ever get better? Yeah I learned to block then sweep-kick the hell out of her, but that“s not to say I won every time, I just started winning more.

The key thing I learned about those fighting games is to roll with the punches. Don“t panic if something doesn“t go as planned in a fight. So what if your opponent just thumped you on the head as if you were a broken whack-a-mole that won“t go down, you still need to keep your cool and keep fighting.

Don“t freak out and do something stupid just because things didn“t go according to your plan. Don“t strike out blindly and do something you will later regret. Attacking out of fear is the worst thing you could do. Quite often it would leave me being eaten by Mileena.

Getting your head knocked around in a fighting game is quite easy, and getting your mind messed with when dating someone is also quite easy. It is often just as devastating as an uppercut.

I guess unless you want to end up an emotional wreck you should prepare yourself for the massive onslaught that your brain will receive at any moment in a relationship. Sometimes we all receive information that feels like we just lost a quarter of a life. But the important thing I learned is not to let these little surprises finish us.

Just deal with them as they come at you, and don“t ever over-retaliate, that will just end in problems, like getting your head bitten off.

There are always mind games that go on in every relationship, most actually aren“t intentional and are often the result of over-thinking.

Just remember that no one knows. There are always going to be more surprises and you will be able to go on to the next round.
